“All the Good Times”

All the Good Times is a sound based video installation and performance examining transatlantic aspirations in land lock as a metaphor for generational divides and the fetishization of historiographies. Archival footage shot by the artists’ respective grandfathers blends with new footage while a soundscape transforms a traditional tune into an aggressively celebratory jazz infused piece littered with repetitive inconclusive processions. The installation examines the role of nostalgia coupled with the legacies of creole cuisine and the Black Atlantic, questioning the distancing of technology and spirituality. The video installation will be on view through December with a live musical performance component on the opening night only.
More About the Artists:
Justin Randolph Thompson is a new media artist and educator born in Peekskill, NY and living between Italy and the US since 2001. Thompson’s work questions the implications of cultural relics and the mutability of their veneration within the context of displacement. Broadly collaborative and inherently interdisciplinary, he relies upon the collective power of creative dialogue to provide platforms that envision communities as temporary monuments. Justin Thompson has exhibited internationally and participated in numerous residencies in the US and in Europe in venues such as the Whitney Museum of American Art, The Reina Sofia, Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum, the American Academy in Rome and more. Thompson is the recipient of numerous awards including the Louis Comfort Tiffany Award, a Franklin Furnace Fund Grant, The FCA Emergency Grant, The EAF from Socrates Sculpture Park and a Jerome Prize from Franconia Sculpture Park. Bradly Dever Treadaway is a Brooklyn and New Orleans based artist and teacher utilizing lens-based image making, sculpture, installation and performance to comment on the breakdown of intergenerational communication. Treadaway is a Fulbright Scholar to Italy and works as both a Faculty member and the Digital Media Coordinator at The International Center of Photography in New York City. His work has been exhibited at the Whitney Museum of Art, Center for Photography at Woodstock, The International Center of Photography, The Mobile Museum of Art, The Ospedale degli Innocenti in Florence, Italy, and the Lishui Museum of Photography in China. Treadaway’s film/video work has been screened at the New Orleans Film Festival, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the National Centre for Contemporary Art in Moscow, Russia, Anthology Film Archives, the Nashville Film Festival, the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Scene: Brooklyn, and more.
