LOUIS HOLSTEIN
Louis Holstein is a Curator and Community Builder who believes in the power of art and the strength of community. A collaborator at heart, Louis enjoys working with artists and creatives who long to build a world where everyone has a place to belong, space to grow, and the ability to thrive. His art reflects the importance of being bolstered by community and a deep conviction that art is the bridge from intolerance to empathy. Playing in various mediums, Louis’ artistic voice is communicated through abstract expressionist paintings, writing, and curation.
Louis currently resides in Nashville, TN, with his wife and two children.
To be known is to be seen, and to be seen is to be loved. There is a haunting quality to a photographic image—not just in the way it captures light to form an image, but in how it holds a moment, a memory, a feeling. SEE/SAW is a photographic group exhibition curated by Louis Holstein, that turns the lens inward, focusing on the personal lives of professional photographers. Who do they see when commerce is removed? Who allows themself to be known by the photographer?
