Threadbare: A Group Exhibition of Nashville Fiber Artists

Nov 25 – Dec 2, 2026 | Opening Reception November 25, 5pm–8pm

COOP is pleased to present Threadbare, a group exhibition featuring multi-generational fiber artists from across Nashville who have been stitching in community at COOP. The exhibition explores the question, How do fabrics and textiles define us?, reflecting on the physical and emotional resonance of fiber: its softness, familiarity, and the memories materials evoke. Even when threadbare, a story remains. Within each work, threads are exposed or tended — unraveled, dyed, mended, twisted, and tailored — revealing the layered narratives embedded within cloth.

Slostitch began as informal monthly meetups which have evolved into a dynamic exchange of techniques, stories, and inspirations. These sessions weave together diverse practices and personal histories, producing works that are both tender and disruptive. The exhibition underscores the relationships that form between returning and new participants each month at COOP, contributing to a collective dialogue about care, labor, memory, and creative persistence. Individually, the artists’ works hint at personal and cultural histories; together, they form a tapestry of shared inquiry, revealing the aspirations, doubts, and discoveries of artists negotiating the space between duty and dream.

Threadbare marks the first group exhibition emerging from Slostitch’s community practice, highlighting connection through textiles, experimentation, and the simple pleasure of slowing down to stitch. Artists will be present at the Opening Reception on Tuesday, November 25th, 5–8PM, and during the Makers Bazaar on Small Business Saturday, November 29th from 12-6PM, which will include a public mini-quilt-making event. All are welcome; materials will be provided.
